31 Day Challenge

OK. So a bit of background, today I was running through expenses from our bank accounts in my lunch break, and what I found was pretty shocking.

Who says SEO skills aren’t transferable

So upon deciding to look into this, I downloaded the RAW data from my bank accounts, brought it into Excel and added some custom attribution columns to separate expenses by:

  • a person
  • a type
  • in/out

from here I could Pivot the data any way I wanted. And this is what I found:

Yes.  21p out of every pound I spend each and every month is spent on alcohol. Just less than spent on growing personal and family businesses. And this figure will be even higher if segmented properly (Tesco’s was counted as food, but will include beer purchases, as will eating out). So what is my challenge? Give up beer? No, don’t be silly.

The Challenge

The challenge is to halve the percentage of outgoings spent on alcohol purchases during July, whilst also attributing all purchase correctly. So the target I am aiming for is 10%, whilst also adding in other purchases…possible? Who knows, but lets find out.
